Elephant Man, and An Exciting Announcement!

Last month I had the tremendous honor of playing John Merrick as the title role in The Elephant Man at Hillbarn Theatre. The production was extremely demanding physically, but served to be one of the most satisfying theatrical experiences I've ever embarked upon. While my body is glad for the relief, I will definitely miss that show.

However, once it ended I then began the most exciting role I have ever or will ever play: Fatherhood!

Judah Jeremey Marx was born on May 5th, 2018. While he experienced a bit of a bumpy ride in the hospital, we were able to bring him home happy and healthy two weeks later. We are overjoyed and can't wait to show him the world.

Meanwhile, the remainder of 2018 is already booked up! This summer I will be directing Saturday Night Fever at Broadway by the Bay, then I will be directing a very exciting project that has yet to be announced... Afterwards, I'll be playing Trevor Graydon in Thouroughly Modern Milly at CCMT, then I direct Sweeney Todd! I then wrap the whole thing up by directing 110 in the Shade at 42nd Street Moon. Lots of amazing stuff to do, and to teach my new baby!

Luna Gale, Woman in Black, Fool for Love, and The Fall

This year has been one of the busiest ever with back to back projects since jump.

Luna Gale at the Aurora was a treat of a project, with an incredible cast and crew at the helm of one of the best written plays that I have ever worked on. Take a look at the incredible reviews we got!

I'm currently in rehearsals for The Woman In Black at Hillbarn Theatre. This two-hander has always been one of my dream roles and it should prove to thrill and exhilarate audiences this Halloween season.

Immediately following I'll be heading back to San Jose Stage to start working on Fool for Love by Sam Sheapard with an incredible cast.

Then, I'll be working on "Seeds," a new work by Anne Kobori.

I also just finished shooting an amazing fight demo short called "Fall." The whole thing was brilliantly filmed in a one-shot by the amazing Roth Rind, showcasing me and the terrifically talented Kevin Kemp.

In addition, I just found out that I was nominated for a TBA Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for my work in Toxic Avenger! I'll see you at the awards!

California Living...

Been here in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past two months now and life has been full and wonderfully busy.

I am currently teaching with SF Shakes and Cal Shakes and really enjoying both of those experiences while also teaching workshops for SJSU in both Meisner and Michael Chekov work.

In addition - I am working with Ray of Light Theatre Co. on their production of "Heathers: The Musical" as well as Assistant Directing and Fight Directing Broadway by the Bay's production of "West Side Story" in the beautiful Fox Theatre in Redwood City.

I also think I'm going to start using this blog to talk about my life in the Producer track...

Being away from my lovely FloodLight Productions back home in New York, I have teamed up with Epic Immersive and the talented Steven Boyle to help him build and construct an experience called "Matthew Briar and the Age of Resurrection", a one-day massive-scaled experience in three acts which is sure to awe and amaze anyone lucky enough to take part. In addition, I have been collaborating and working with Nick Olivero with Boxcar Theatre to help him build the second iteration of "The Speakeasy", an illicit immersive underground theatrical experience.
